I love you, Mom."
Kultida has always been with Woods throughout his golf career. He participated in the induction ceremony of the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2022 and the 2019 Masters, Woods' last major championship, and recently made an appearance at TGL Stadium, a screen golf league. However, due to massive forest fires in the Los Angeles area, he will not be able to participate in the Genesis Invitational, which will be relocated to Torrey Pines in San Diego next week.
Woods wore a red shirt on Sunday, the final round, because of his mother's influence. "In my mother's hometown of Thailand, people choose the color of what they will wear on every day of the week, but Sunday's color is red," Woods said in past media interviews. "She said I was Capricorn, so the power color is red, and I've been wearing red since I was a junior, leading to victory."
Born in Thailand, Kultida first met Woods' father, Earl Woods, during the Vietnam War in the 1960s. A former U.S. Special Forces soldier, Earl met and dated Kultida, who was working as a secretary at a base in Thailand. Kultida followed Earl back to New York, married, and then moved to Cyprus, California, where they had a son, Tiger, in 1975. Earl and Kultida were married for 37 years until Earl's death at their home in Cyprus in May 2006.
